X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Movie: X-Men Origins: Wolverine: Staring the Very Attractive Hugh Jackman: Who Is Very Attractive
Like/Don't Like: Hugh Jackman

Tell me if you feel this way sometimes - you're watching an action movie and about half-way through you say, "Okay. I'm good." You've had your fill of punching and throwing and helicopters spinning through the air and you're ready to move on to the story. Only the punching doesn't stop. There is always another scene of punching and more punching. It's kind of boring. Especially in this particular movie because SPOILER! Wolverine lives. You know he's not going to die. So whatever new and improved mutant they throw at him will not be able to kill him. Now, the scenes were all action packed and I'm not saying that they weren't fun to watch, but I just got to a point where I was done with seeing Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber stab each other in the chest.

This isn't so much a problem with the movie as it is with the whole genre. It's so saturated with tricks and stunts and things blowing up that there isn't anything left to impress us so they have to just keep filling every moment up with them until the really super big fight to the death at the end. What I'm saying is that it's getting old and that I don't see anything wrong with substituting one or two of those fight sequences with a little bit of story line.

But did I mention that Hugh Jackman was in this? Hugh Jackman wearing nicely fitted jeans? Those jeans and an Icee could have carried me through another hour of punching.

I agree 100%. But what got me threw was the bare bumm - hello Hugh Jackman! He is such a babe!

It drives my husband crazy that I always fall asleep during an action flick. Seriously though, all the punching and car chases and explosions melt together and look the same to me. Zzzzz...

I enjoyed the whole movie thoroughly. Perhaps it has something to do with my love of football, or, more specifically, the violent crunching tackles that occur in football. I agree that some extra storyline would surely have helped this movie. But I don't really mind watching all that punching and explosions if it means I get to see a super-pumped Hugh Jackman in a wife-beater. And, never having gotten into the X-Men comic books, I am always excited to see what crazy mutants will show up. I am very aware that I'm unrefined for liking action flicks, but I also enjoy a good Masterpiece Theatre. Does that make up for it? Plus, Hugh Jackman. Yummers.

When I was watching it, I thought (several times), "Oh, this must be the end." And, it wasn't.

No one has mentioned hottie Ryan Reynolds. Seriously...hot!

Gina, I totally forgot about Ryan Reynolds. It was a nice role for him. For once he was being a tough guy and not a goofy wuss. I enjoyed him as well, although mostly I was distracted by Hugh Jackmans massive arms.

When I saw this movie, I was with a couple of my nephews (despite my views that they shouldn't be able to see it, but I'm not the parent, so...) anyway, I was so busy trying to explain to them what was going on, that I missed most of the punching.

(You would think that with so little storyline it would be easy to explain, but it wasn't! The opening 10 minutes of time changing was tricky...)

And, I missed Hugh Jackman's bare hiney! What!? I didn't even know that part was in there!
